Senior Real Estate Specialist
Hello, my name is Matt Phelan. I am a realtor for Weichert Realtors Sierra Pacific Group located in Folsom, California. I am an SRES real estate specialist. What is an SRES? It really just boils down to being a senior real estate specialist, now this is a unique qualification as there is only maybe about 2% of all Realtors in the United States to qualify to be SRES certified. This particular rank as an agent is established by the senior realtor council which is backed by the National Association of Realtors. We assist in the family multi-generational placement of seniors. Seniors can be identified as people being over 50, 55, 60, 65 or even in their autumn years at 85 and 90. The platform is created from knowledge and compassion, I surrounded myself with a team of people who facilitate in making sure that that circle of support is there. For a home that they may have been in for the last 20, 30 or in some cases 50 years. That is an emotional stage that is not built for just the normal agent who's out there. It does take a circle of support of other people of CPAs, attorneys, accountants, and there so many people out there that specialize in taking care of elderly people at this stage in their life the home may be one of their biggest investments and you don't want to make the mistake of potentially being somebody doesn't know what they're doing or doesn't have the care and consideration towards helping this person through this process. My first encounter with Scott was pure chance. I came in from Los Angeles and called the listing agent for a property that I was interested in. He happened to answer the phone and offered to show me the property. He showed up on time, he was very unassuming, courteous and very knowledgeable. He was not your typical agent and I immediately felt at ease. I knew right there and then that he was going to be my agent.
We searched for a couple of months and made multiple offers on several properties, until I found the right one. Never, did he try to take a shortcut or steer me the wrong way, always listened and looked out for my interest. The purchase of the property from the bank was very smooth without any hiccups.
While owning the property as a rental for the last few years, if I ever needed a favor or help with the management from time to time he was always ready to help without any expectations whatsoever, so naturally when it came time to sell he was my first choice even though there were many solicitors and many other offers.
This transaction brought Scott's strengths and skills into full display as it was a very difficult one from the onset. From having a deal fall through because of unqualified buyers to having a none cooperative tenant who followed through with a bankruptcy… all of this required a lot of maneuvering and diplomacy, in addition to a lot of patience and having good people skills. This is the true test of a good Agent. I've been in real estate for many years, never have I encountered such a difficult transaction. Had it not been for Scott the deal would have collapsed. So if I had to choose again, he will be my number one choice. I very highly recommend Scott to anyone interested in buying or selling a home

At a time in my life, Scott was there to search, find, and close the deal on a home of my dreams. We had come across a property that was opening bids the following day from which we toured the home. There were already three bids on the home and bid was the fourth. Scott led me through the things we needed to do to come out the winner.
